#ThingsNutritionistsLike – Crustless Quiche
Our Favourite Things – Egg Bakes
Growing up, I was never an egg eater. It was only through learning to love quiche that I started to eat eggs, as an adult. I actually prefer crustless quiche to one with a crust (I’m also secretly not a pastry lover, which creates some debate with my oldest child over what counts as quiche or pie if it’s not a traditional crust).
Recently on a grocery store trip, I discovered Burnbrae Farms Egg Bakes Crustless Quiche in the freezer section. Despite the very busy looking packaging, this product is surprisingly simple in it’s ingredients. Eggs. Cheese. Vegetables. Bacon, sausage or ham. Cream, corn starch and seasonings. For the flavour variety in these pictures, the ingredient list includes the breakdown of the cheeses and bacon. The egg patty itself is ready in 90 seconds, and is nearly as good as some of the eggs I bake for myself at home or at work.
I was pleasantly surprised by the short list of ingredients, and how good it tasted as part of my lunch. I will definitely be trying out some of the other flavour options. These are quick, and simple, and it will be easy to add a few to the freezer at work for those days when I’m stuck on what to pack for lunch.
