Your body needs the nutrient iron to make hemoglobin, which is like a taxi that takes oxygen from the lungs to all of the cells in your body. People who don’t get enough iron in the foods that they eat are at risk for iron shortages or deficiency. Growing children, teenagers, menstruating women and pregnant women need the most iron. These groups are also at greatest risk of not getting enough iron and for becoming iron deficient. Symptoms of iron deficiency (sometimes called microcytic anemia) include fatigue or feeling tired, lack of energy, poor appetite and pallor or paleness. Click here to read more about:
