#ThingsNutritionistsLike – Lifting Heavy
Favourite Things – Heavy Lifting
Being a self-proclaimed gym rat, getting myself to the gym is not usually an issue for me. My favorite thing to do when I get there is definitely to lift weights (with proper form learned over years of training)!
Nothing feels better than to start or end a day with the headphones on, great music and lifting weights. In the moment, I feel strong and empowered and this has become my number 1 stress reliever! Over the years, I enjoy seeing the continued strength gains and new moves that I can accomplish that I didn’t think were possible before.
My favorite exercises are mostly lower body exercises such as squats, lunges, single leg balance work.
However, over the last year, I have made a commitment to be able to do a pull-up. Being 6’2, it felt like an impossible task. There was a slow progression and a lot of attempts made before I was successful, but I am proud to say this goal has now been accomplished!
On to the next challenge!
This month I want to encourage you to pick a challenge that seems a little out of your comfort zone. If you are just starting out with fitness, try a new class or plan a hike with a friend. If you are a seasoned athlete or fitness enthusiast, pick something bigger and harder and research how to get there.
