Land Acknowledgement

In the spirit of reconciliation, we acknowledge that we live, work and play on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), the Tsuut’ina, the Îyârhe Nakoda Nations, the Métis Nation (Region 3), and all people who make their homes in the Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta.

We recognize the land as an expression of reconciliation and gratitude to the Indigenous peoples whose territory we inhabit. We honor the Treaties made on these lands, recognize the mistakes and harms of the past, and commit to moving forward in partnership with Indigenous communities in the spirit of reconciliation and collaboration.

Strawberry Teachings

As you may know, our logo on the top left corner of the screen, features a strawberry.

Strawberry - Indigenous Meaning

Did you know strawberries are often known as ‘heart berries’ to Indigenous Peoples? Because of its shape, the wild or natural strawberry is an important food and medicine in many indigenous cultures in North America.

According to Wabano Centre for Aboriginal Health:

“The strawberry teaches forgiveness and peace. The strawberry is shaped like a heart, and strawberries are known to our people as heart berries.”

—Elder Lillian Pitawanakwat

“This little plant carries many teachings. Our Elders say, “Just as the O-day’-min (heart berry) is connected to the strawberry plant by a vast system of leaves, runners, and roots, so is the heart connected to all the organs and parts of the human body. The heart is at the centre of the human.””

Eat Fully with Your

Left + Right Brain

The human brain is divided into two broad hemispheres. The left brain is responsible for logic, science, math, patterns and analytical tasks. The right brain is responsible for feeling, creativity, art, imagination, taste and intuition.

We think of eating fully in using both parts of your brain.

Our left analytical brain can be leveraged to help you build habits to eat healthfully (get enough nerdy nutritious foods for health). Our right creative brain can guide you to eat soulfully (with taste, intuition, joy and flexibility in your eating choices).

Overall our goal is to empower you to create a healthy and joyous relationship with food and your body. No extreme clean eating regimes here, only balanced living you can sustain for life.

Live Fully

#BalancedNotClean

Eating fully = healthfully (left brain) + soulfully (right brain)

No food rules, only food love.

There are no bad foods, it’s your overall diet that counts!

Now more than ever there are food rules, trendy eating regimes and fad diets that tell you which foods are good or bad and how you should eat. Watch this video by our CEO, Calgary Dietician Andrea Holwegner, about the importance of enjoying ALL foods (including chocolate and potato chips).
