We are excited to introduce you to Registered Dietitian and Nutritionist on our team, Erin Hamilton.
Erin is passionate about making nutrition simple, approachable, and realistic for everyday life. With a background in sport and performance nutrition, she enjoys helping clients fuel their bodies, build confidence in their choices, and reach their goals—whether that’s improving performance, restoring balance, or feeling their best.
She’s a strong believer that all foods can fit into a healthy lifestyle and that nutrition shouldn’t feel complicated or restrictive.
We asked Erin to share a few things about herself so you can get to know her background, interests, favourite foods, and more. Learn even more about Erin, her experience, and her approach to nutrition in her full bio at Erin Hamilton’s Bio.
What is your background as a Registered Dietitian?
I completed my Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition at StFX University in Nova Scotia. My dietetic internship included a range of experiences—from working at a pediatric medical camp (Camp Brigadoon), to supporting varsity athletes through a sport nutrition placement, to completing my clinical training at Saint John Regional Hospital.
When the pandemic hit, my internship was cut short and I returned home to Calgary, where I worked with Alberta Health Services as a contact tracer. After that, I began my career in sport nutrition at the University of Calgary Sport Medicine Centre, followed by a role with the Canadian Sport Institute Alberta.
Since then, my work has focused on performance nutrition across a variety of levels. I currently work with national teams, including Canada’s 3×3 basketball and fencing programs, and support athletes through the Calgary Flames development system. I’ve also worked with the Calgary Hitmen, Mount Royal University varsity teams, and U of C Dinos Football.
Across all of these roles, I’ve developed a passion for helping athletes balance performance, recovery, and everyday life through practical, sustainable nutrition strategies.
What is your favourite part of being a Dietitian?
My favourite part of being a dietitian is finding ways to make nutrition more approachable to individuals of all ages and knowledge levels. It’s fun to take a complicated science & break it down to something that is universally understood. Likewise, seeing my clients achieve their goals is the best. Whether an athlete getting their period back after some time of under-fueling to seeing a client achieve a personal best in their sport, all is a very rewarding part of the job that I love.

What is one myth that you want to clear up about Dietitians?
That we are the food police. When I go out to eat with friends I am there for just that – to eat & enjoy great company, not to judge your food orders. French fries are always on the table when I’m out to eat (one of my fave foods!), so I am a huge advocate that all foods can be enjoyed in moderation & don’t need to be judged.
What is your favourite nerdy nutritious food chosen for health?
Spinach!
This is a fridge staple in my house & is added to most dishes we make. Sandwiches, soups, stir-fries, salads, pasta, and the list goes on. I often encourage my clients to use spinach in cooking as it wilts down to nothing & doesn’t have a strong taste, so can usually just offer a nutritious boost to meals.
What is your favourite soulful food chosen for taste, enjoyment, and social fun?
Soup. Any & all. My favourite soup to make is a red Thai coconut curry or miso ramen. My mom taught me how to make chicken & veggie stock from scratch at a young age & it is now currently the base of all my soups. Soup Sunday is a weekly staple in my household!

What is something that people may not know about you?
That I spent “grade 13” in Switzerland. I had the opportunity to attend a satellite school in Neuchatel where I upgraded some high school courses & got to travel as a part of my studies. While here I had an “ah ha” moment where I knew I wanted to study dietetics & not nursing like I originally thought.
